Strawberry Swing kick it up on energetic single, "Bennie (Won't Dance)"
Delivering their first piece of music since 2021’s Taste The Berry, Strawberry Swing are back with a fantastic track, “Bennie (Won’t Dance)”. Please read on for an in-depth look, in addition to a background on the band.
Made up of Mark Griffin (drums, lyrics) and Nima Dehghani (keyboard, vocals), Strawberry Swing are an indie pop group that have expertly fused elements of the past with a touch of modern. On their newest single “Bennie (Won’t Dance)”, you can fully expect a high energy and upbeat listen that’s both vibrant and reminiscent of decades past. In which this is the band’s first co-written song, they’ve taken their talents and blended them together for an end product that feels quite special. Without a doubt, we’re highly recommending everyone out there give it a spin.
“Bennie (Won’t Dance)” undoubtedly holds a feeling that’s both shifting the listener’s focus to the lyricism and the vibe of it all. Built for a modern audience and anyone who can appreciate some serious 80’s influence, it’s not overtly difficult to immediately feel immersed into this one. The energy comes bursting through, so don’t be surprised if you get that sensation to dance, as long as your name isn’t Bennie. In all seriousness though, we felt so many emotions that were jam-packed into this sub-3 minute track, but the empowering vocals from Nima had to have been our favorite part. Her style borders on the line of emphatic and anthemic, but with a real grit to it as well.
Considering though that this is the band’s first release of 2022, we’re already over here patiently waiting for the inevitable follow up. As the summer months loom around the corner, it’s hot weather music like this that we’re going to need a whole lot of to get down to. In the meantime, we already know we’ll be going back to Taste The Berry to tide us over, but if for some reason you’ve yet to let the music of Strawberry Swing into your life, please introduce yourselves to their group with “Bennie (Won’t Dance)”!
