Super Love expand their sound on vibrant single, "The Moon"
Sharing their first single since 2021’s “Bored”, we’re thrilled to say that Super Love have made a swift return with a lovely new track titled “The Moon”. Please read on for our glowing review of the single, as well as a background on the artist.
For those out of the loop, Super Love is the musical duo of husband and wife, Constance Watkins (vocals) and Jared Watkins (multi-instrumentalist). Together they’re consistently creating an eclectic blend of upbeat pop with synth elements that are always jam packed with meaningful lyricism. Not skipping a beat on their newest, “The Moon”, they’ve returned to full form with a song that’s instantly enjoyable right from the start. Do yourselves a favor and please don’t miss out.
Starting out slow and building up the momentum of a sonically empowering song, Constance and Jared have continued to further revolutionize their sound. While you’ll always find a defining sweetness about it, the production here is even more dialed in, Constance’s vocals shine the brightest, and this feels like the future of Super Love. The rest of their existing discography is filled with gems, however we urge everyone to pay close attention to the song structure here to really experience something different. Pop music nowadays feels very cut and dry, but it’s songs like these that take chances and redefine style.
On the background of the track, “The Moon” urge everyone to “to own your destiny, be wild, and be brave”. On the lyricism, the two are always pushing the envelope to create imager-filled passages, but the context and themes cover here actually inspire a ton of optimism and forward thinking. As this is the band’s first release of the new year, here’s hoping that it’s not the last we hear from them in 2022. Life can get difficult in its own ways, but keeping music as a creative outlet and striving to make more should hopefully be at the forefront.
