These Fine Moments celebrate 10 years together on new album, "Season 10"
Released officially today on February 26th, 2021, These Fine Moments have put forth their latest record, Season 10, which we are absolutely thrilled with. Read along with us as we share our thoughts on the album, in addition to a background on the artists as well.
Austin, Texas based musical duo, Hilary Kaufmann and Robert Watts, are celebrating their first decade of writing, recording and performing together with the release of their fifth full-length record, produced by Mark Hallman (Ani DiFranco, Carole King). Hallman also provides the rhythm section and multiple instruments, with Ken Stringfellow (The Posies, REM, Big Star) helping out with electric guitars, keys, and backing vocals on two of the tracks.
Coming in at 12 total tracks, These Fine Moments have managed to put together an extremely well produced and heavenly sounding record that we’ve been listening to for weeks at this point. Considering its official release date is February 26th, we’ll make sure to let you know early on in the review just how worth your time it really is.
Hilary and Robert have successfully blended genres galore on their fifth official album. Mixing up bits of Americana, Country, and some good old Rock and Roll, there really is a bit of everything for all types of music listeners on here. If we had to describe it, really it could be categorized as complete and cohesive. There isn’t a single song that is out of place within the overall soundscape that they’ve created. Everything is perfect, succinct, and ultimately in its right place.
While it would be quite difficult for us to pick out a singular favorite track, there are obviously some that jumped out at us on our first run through. Specifically the album opener and lead single, “Beneath Storm”, “On The Table”, and “Million to One” were those that set off the musical buzzers in our brain. Not to knock the rest of the album, but like any listen, you’re bound to have your favorites. While we highly suggest listening from start to finish, make sure to at least check out those complete winners.
We’ll be honest though, this was our first jump into the music of These Fine Moments, and even 10 years in, we’re slightly upset that they hadn’t crossed our paths sooner. With that being said though, there’s more than enough discography to hop in and discover from. After loving Season 10 so much, it’s only right that we do our due diligence and explore exactly what we’ve been missing out on. For now though, we’ll be spinning the current album any chance we get.
