THORN make a massive statement with relentless single, “THE PEOPLE”

With “THE PEOPLE,” THORN steps boldly into the darker corridors of modern life and emerges with one of the most gripping underground rock statements of the year. Recorded between the unforgiving streets of London and the solitude of their Devon coast-based studio, the track feels haunted by environment as much as its literal endless emotion. It’s heavy, experimental, and unflinchingly honest, like a piece of industrial art rock that doesn’t ask for attention so much as it demands to be heard with all its noise.

From the opening moments, the production alone signals that this is no ordinary song, not in the slightest. Massive drums crash with precision, distorted guitars grind with chaos, and synths provide a really interesting backbone to the whole track. The use of sampled vocal excerpts from Ronald Reagan’s “We The People” speech adds a sincerely chilling political ghost to the mix, not really as a gimmick, but to enhance those themes. The phrase becomes warped through distortion and recontextualized through sound, transforming from patriotic rhetoric into something far more unsettling.

We think one of the more underrated parts of the whole song is its atmosphere. At times it’s abrasive, claustrophobic, and completely hypnotic. THORN clearly draws from industrial forebears like Nine Inch Nails, but it never feels derivative. When the guitars fully unleash in the latter half of the song, the payoff is enormous. The guitar work is incredible, cutting through the mix with scorched texture and fury, offering a much needed release after building up for the first three minutes.

The song was inspired by the realities of sleeping on the streets of London. This isn’t suffering used for shock value, we feel it’s mainly being observed, internalized, and translated into music. The vocal delivery feels quite direct too, as if the weight of those experiences is being communicated directly to you.

There’s a rare confidence in how uncompromising this track is. It doesn’t bend toward commercial comfort or trend-chasing accessibility. Instead, it commits fully to its vision. The song doesn’t just rage, it reflects. With a live performance already looming in January, “THE PEOPLE” feels like a mission statement for THORN’s artistic identity. We loved every single thing about this song and will be replaying it trying to chase that dragon of the first spin.
