Tygermylk & Laura Reznek get real on dreamy Folk Pop single, "The Deverills"

With “The Deverills,” TYGERMYLK (the project of Hayz Harland) delivers a luminous, heartfelt ode to the unfiltered and beautiful reality of life on the road and the families we find along the way. It’s a track that’s undeniably brimming with charm, humor, and tenderness, the kind of song that makes you laugh, ache, and reminisce for those ridiculous, unrepeatable nights you share with your closest people.

Co-written with Laura Reznek, “The Deverills” is at its core a love song — but not the romantic kind, rather a love letter to the irreplaceable connections forged in the back of vans and over countless rounds of bad coffee in unfamiliar cities. The track effortlessly captures the absurdity of those moments, recounting stories of getting on the wrong boat and making unplanned pilgrimages to Amsterdam’s cat museum. It’s full of cinematic detail and sly humor, yet never feels flippant. Beneath the jokes lies a deeper reverence for the resilience and grace of queer friendship and chosen family.

Vocally, Harland is at her best here. The delivery is soft but drenched in feeling, floating atop a lush, understated production that lets every word land. The vocals are front and center in the mix, exactly where they belong, pulling the listener in with an intimacy that feels both casual and profound. There’s a lived-in quality to the performance, like a trusted friend unspooling their favorite tour stories in a late-night kitchen.

The production itself is refreshingly restrained, relying on subtle acoustics, gentle percussion, and atmospheric touches that builds a dreamy sound and style. Additionally, The St Leonards’ KIN Choir adds a rich, glowing warmth to the choruses towards the final moments as their harmonies give the track an almost spiritual quality. The result is a soundscape that feels grounded— the perfect canvas for a song about navigating the real world while chasing your own kind of magic.

TYGERMYLK’s ability to turn life’s messy and marvelous moments into songs that shimmer with both humor and heart is quite impressive. It’s the kind of song you’ll want to press play on every time you miss your people, and proof that the artist is a voice and songwriter to follow along with in the future.

Just like her past single “Natali”, she’s found a sound that’s continuing to be explored and the payoff is simply brilliant. So please, go ahead and click those links below to listen in, follow along, and of course to stay tuned for more.
