Ending the year on a high note with an all new EP titled Daybreak, Willow Woodward has shown the world the massive strides she’s made as an artist. We’re loving this release. Please read on for our full review of the record, as well as a background on this talented musician.

At only 18 years old, Willow Woodward is a singer-songwriter currently based out of Chatham, Massachusetts. Having been surrounded by music for basically her whole life, it was the natural evolution for her to turn her songwriting talents into something more serious. With a full length record and multiple singles under her belt already, Daybreak is a perfect addition to her sound and quickly growing discography.

Coming in at 6 songs, hovering right around the 18 minute mark in runtime, Daybreak is not only a major feat in songwriting, but a serious improvement on the production side as well. Featuring a thumping bass on nearly all the tracks, the real standout was Willow’s dynamic vocals that overpower nearly any facet of the song’s instrumentation. Painting a picture effortlessly with her lyrics and using her voice as another instrument in the mix, she instantly piqued our interest on the opener “Fade”.

On the background of the record though, Willow has crafted the theme of it all around her introspection and a look back on the past year. Music has been her creative outlet and she’s toed the line of classic country music storytelling framework at the same time. Songs like “Closed Book” and “Hardest On Ourselves” were fantastic examples of that. Comparing this record to her 2020 debut Hideaway, you can audibly hear the improvements. The base is set for the future and we’ll gladly stay tuned for anything else she’s got in the works for 2022.

If this happens to be your first introduction to the music of Willow Woodward, you’ve discovered her at the perfect time. With so much music to dig into so early on in her blossoming career, we’re personally ecstatic to see how her sound shapeshifts.
