Young León immerses the listener on relatable single, "Lies (to pass the time)"

Rising to the occasion for something outstanding early on in the year, Young León has nailed it on his newest single, “Lies (to pass the time)”. Do yourselves a favor and read on as we share our in-depth review, as well as a much needed background on the artist.

Not wasting any time whatsoever in 2023, Young León has just shared his first single of the year with the fresh release of “Lies (to pass the time)”. Recorded in his friend’s bedroom, but truly embodying the feeling and sound of something that surpasses studio quality, we’ve quickly come to love everything about this atmospheric and soundscape-driven song. While this was our introduction to the artist, it’s only the beginning of our exploration into the rest of his discography. We’re urging everyone out there to do the same.

On the background of it all, ultimately it’s an all too relatable sentiment and situation in which “the feeling you get when your friends invite you out, but all you want to do is stay home and chill”. As Young León has so perfectly exclaimed, it’s an ode to those with social anxiety who are either over the act of going out, or really aren’t just feeling it. Finally, a song for the introvert or ambivert that calls to our most inner thoughts relatabilities. Honestly, as soon as you hit the play button on this beauty, it’s almost as if you’re sucked into the never ending calm and relaxation that “Lies” has to offer. Surely it’s worth your time and effort to make your own connections within its vivid lyricism, but for us this song provided more of a wholesome vibe and aura rather than something that directly relies on its messaging.

Digging in a little bit closer though, with the production chops of Young León’s collaborator Charcuterie (a great name we must add), the two have complemented each other and 100% fulfilled a vision we know was sought after from the start. It’s got enough pop-esque elements to draw you in and keep you entertained, but more than enough sonic subtleties hiding within the mix to please an audiophile’s ears over and over. This right here is a flawless track and we cannot wait for everyone to enjoy it as much as we did.
