Youngtree & the Blooms tease anthemic single, “Waiting For Us (Let’s Make the Time for It)”

Exactly a month to the day since our last review of Youngtree & the Blooms’ new music, but with a release schedule like theirs, the band is back with a new rocker titled “Waiting For Us (Let’s Make the Time for It)”. Keep reading for an in-depth look at their latest single.

Following up “Heaven Ain’t A Lonely Road” with another preview of their second full length record, Youngtree & the Blooms have made a splash with their newest song, “Waiting For Us (Let’s Make the Time for It)”. Capitalizing on the moments that made us love the lead single so much, they’ve executed that formula flawlessly here for another rendition of an uplifting and instantly catchy song. Featuring two members of Canadian indie rock band Hey Rosetta! (Mara Pellerin and Josh Ward), this is undoubtedly another step in the right direction.

Purposely influenced by the writing style of Gord Downie (The Tragically Hip), the band is using his idea of “friendspeak”. Says Peter Smith on the song’s background, “ wrote it after watching an interview with him last year, in which he said: ‘If you can be comfortable enough to write a song as though you were talking to a friend, then that friend would sort of know exactly what you're saying all the time.’ Surely that’s a unique style to write in, but honestly the lyrics and themes of the song flow so much better knowing its background. Like everything we’ve listened to in the past from Youngtree & the Blooms, there’s always an innate focus on keeping the lyrics relatable, conventional, but easy to follow along with as a listener.

Putting the message aside though, this song so wonderfully captures the vibrant essence that we were hoping it would. Through inspired instrumentation, dynamic vocal structures, and an anthemic hold to the song, the 2nd LP is shaping up to be something truly special. One of our initial impressions was just how well this song would translate in a live setting. Listen for yourselves obviously, but it’s not difficult to envision being in a sea of thousands singing that chorus right back to the band in unison. With its decade spanning inspirations that border the line of nostalgic and modern, it’s another beautiful addition to the band’s rapidly growing discography.
