Justice Deliver a Hypnotic Masterclass at the Kia Forum
Electronic music doesn’t get more transcendent than what Justice brought to Los Angeles on October 24th. The French duo’s return to the Kia Forum, night one of their two-night, sold-out stand, was nothing short of a revelation, a breathtaking display of precision, spectacle, and pure sonic control that reminded everyone in attendance why they’re the undisputed masters of live electronic performance. Touring behind their latest album Hyperdrama, Justice proved once again that no one else on the planet merges chaos and control quite like they do.
From the moment the first strobe hit, the show was a clinic in perfection. Every pulse, every lighting cue, every gut-rattling bass drop arrived with absolute purpose. The stage, towering synth rigs, glowing crosses, a cathedral of light and sound (courtesy of Vincent Lerisson), felt alive, shifting and morphing in sync with each beat. Justice have always blurred the line between DJ set and rock concert, but Hyperdrama has elevated them to new heights of theatricality. This wasn’t just music; it was an audiovisual ritual.
Their sound design continues to defy belief. The clarity of the mix, the weight of the low end, and the dynamic interplay between industrial grit and euphoric melody were nothing short of perfection. At times it felt like being swallowed by the music with hypnotic waves of distortion and groove washing over a crowd completely locked into the same pulse. The Forum itself seemed to breathe with the beat.
The energy in the room never wavered. Even between songs, the anticipation buzzed, each silence its own dramatic pause before the next eruption of sound and light. Justice’s command of pacing is unreal: they build, they break, they rebuild. It’s storytelling through rhythm, delivered with the polish of a symphony and the danger of a warehouse rave.
Co-headliner Kaytranada set the tone earlier in the night with his unmistakable groove and slick transitions, but Justice’s closing set turned the entire Forum into something otherworldly. The duo’s chemistry onstage, both unspoken and unflinching, made clear why they’ve endured as icons of the electronic scene for nearly two decades.
By the time the lights came up, there was a collective sense that we had witnessed something bigger than a concert, something closer to a spiritual experience. The crowd lingered in disbelief, still bathed in the afterglow of one of the greatest electronic live shows ever mounted. Justice didn’t just perform; they engineered perfection.
If Hyperdrama marks the tail end of this tour, let’s hope it’s nowhere near the end of their reign. Justice are eternal, and after a night like this, we’ll be following them forever and ever.
