Old Crow Medicine Show Brings Honky Tonk Energy to the Chevalier Theatre

Old Crow Medicine Show brought their signature high-octane, honky-tonk energy to the Chevalier Theatre in Medford, MA Thursday night, transforming the historic venue into a full-blown dance hall. With a setlist that spanned bluegrass standards, rowdy covers, and fan favorites, the band had the crowd on their feet from the first note of "Tell It to Me" to the encore of Hank Williams' "I Saw the Light."

Frontman Ketch Secor commanded the stage with magnetic energy, seamlessly blending banjo-picking fury and playful crowd interactions. Highlights included a soulful rendition of "Proud Mary," "Shenandoah," and a take on "Great Balls of Fire" that had the packed house hoopin’ and a-hollerin.

The night felt like an old friend’s barn dance, with the Chevalier's typically reserved seats giving way to standing crowds and stomping boots. The classics like “Tennessee Bound” and "Cumberland River" were there, as well as the more-NSFW hits like “Cocaine Habit” and “Methamphetamine.”

The true favorite of the night was the unexpected cover of "The Impression That I Get" by the Boston native Mighty Mighty Bosstones'. The set ended with - you guessed it - a heartfelt singalong to "Wagon Wheel" that felt like a communal celebration. If you’re in the mood for a rambunctious hootenanny, do yourself a favor and catch these guys on their current North American tour.
