Ultra Music Festival Unveils SYNCHRONICITY Aftermovie, Opens Waitlist for 2027
Ultra Music Festival is looking back before it looks ahead! The world's premier electronic music festival has released SYNCHRONICITY, the official aftermovie capturing its sold-out 26th edition, and simultaneously opened the waitlist for its 27th installment, set to return to Downtown Miami's Bayfront Park from Friday, March 26 through Sunday, March 28, 2027.
This year's edition, held over the same Bayfront Park grounds last March, gave fans no shortage of moments worth immortalizing on film. Skrillex made a surprise appearance during BZRP's headlining set, the kind of unannounced cameo that Ultra crowds have come to expect and never stop losing their minds over. Swedish House Mafia turned their Main Stage slot into a full festival-within-a-festival, curating their own lineup of guest performers that included a rare back-to-back set from Eric Prydz. And John Summit closed out his own Main Stage appearance by bringing out Feid, adding yet another unscripted highlight to a weekend already packed with them. It's exactly the kind of era-defining, had-to-be-there energy that's kept Ultra at the top of the festival world for over two decades, and SYNCHRONICITY is built to bottle it.
Rather than stitching together a straightforward highlight reel, the film takes a more ambitious, narrative-driven approach. Structured around an emotional prologue followed by five chapters — Anticipation, Connection, Release, Surrender, and Unity — SYNCHRONICITY traces the arc of the Ultra experience itself, starting with quiet, personal moments before building toward the collective euphoria of tens of thousands of fans moving as one. It's a genuinely fitting structure for a festival that's always sold itself as more than a lineup, and notably, the entire film was shot with real cinematography, with the team behind it making a deliberate choice to skip AI-generated imagery entirely in favor of capturing the festival as it actually happened.
That team, Final Kid Films, returns to helm the project with founder Charly Friedrichs once again serving as director, creative director, and main editor. What's new this year is the addition of co-directors from within Friedrichs' own team, with each one taking ownership of a chapter of the finished film. It's a structural choice that mirrors the movie's own themes rather elegantly: individual filmmakers, individual perspectives, and individual chapters coming together to form one unified piece of work, not unlike the tens of thousands of individual fans who make up an Ultra crowd every March.
With SYNCHRONICITY now streaming and the countdown to March already underway, Ultra is once again giving fans a reason to relive the last edition while looking ahead to the next one. The 27th edition returns to Bayfront Park for three days of the genre's biggest names and, if history is any indication, plenty of surprises nobody will see coming.
