glass beach Talk Upcoming Tour, Music Recommendations, & Their Origin Story

If this is how you’re discovering the music of glass beach, then you’re in for the treat of your life! We got the special opportunity to sit down with all the members of the band to discuss what they’ve been up to, what’s on the horizon, and so much more. Check out our full interview below.

For those out of the loop, glass beach are made up of J McClendon, Jonas Newhouse, William White, and Layne Smith. After releasing their critically acclaimed debut album titled the first glass beach album, it’s become a complete personal favorite of ours and basically on constant repeat since 2019. With so much on the way for the band including a just announced tour and more music on the way, now’s the perfect time to hop on the bandwagon.

Not to give too much away, because we’d obviously prefer you watch the interview and find out for yourself, but their upcoming tour is 100% not to be missed. Having had the opportunity to see them play around January 2020 at The Echo in Los Angeles, California we can confidently confirm they put on a hell of a show. The energy is consistently high, the songs somehow sound even more vibrant live, and who knows, they may just bust out some new tunes on this tour.

While the last year and a half has certainly been difficult for any indie band, especially one that was just about to bust into the stratosphere, they’ve managed to keep busy during this time. After moving in together, and with the loving support through their Patreon, there’s been plenty of goodies that have popped up. The band let us know that there was actually a poll taken from their followers on which songs to cover and the winners were My Chemical Romance’s “Welcome to the Black Parade” and Car Seat Headrest’s “Beach Life In Death”. Both turned out fantastic and are definitely worth your listen.

Even better that we highly recommend is their star studded remix album, alchemist rats beg bashful (remixes). If you loved their debut, you’re going to fall head over heels with this monstrosity that features new ideas and takes from artists like Backxwash, Skatune Network, Pinkshift, NNAMDI, and so many more. Truly, it can’t be recommended enough.

Enough with the words on the page though, do yourselves a massive favor and check out this band and peek into our interview with a bunch of really nice and down to earth musicians. For all things glass beach, to listen, support, and follow along, please check out the following links below.
