Julien Barbagallo & Baptiste W. Hamon Discuss Collaboration Album, "Barbaghamon"

Combining their infinite talents to create a collaboration record called Barbaghamon, we got the extra special opportunity to sit and speak with Julien Barbagallo and Baptiste W. Hamon all about their album. Watch our full interview below.

While each of these artists have impressive discographies of their own, they’ve taken their vastly different styles in music and created the perfect hybrid record that encapsulates the sounds of classic Americana, Country, and glimmers of electronica. Getting to speak with Julien and Baptiste about how they met, the difficulties of putting the record together, and so much more was an absolute treat.

Now you may remember we spoke with Julien this year about his record Les Grands Brûlés, so getting to talk again about a new project was a great reunion. However, the addition of Baptiste to the conversation made for a well rounded discussion and a wealth of knowledge surrounding their musical relationship.

As for the actual music on the album, well, it’s fantastic for lack of a better word. A word of warning for the non-French speakers, the entirety of the record is in French, but thankfully the artists gave us a little background on what each song was about. As they said at the end of our talk though, it’s not so much about what it’s about, rather how the music and vibe of the record makes you feel. As English speakers, we took that to heart because after multiple listens, the atmosphere of the record is what has mattered most.

Wrapping it all up though, Barbaghamon has quickly become one of our favorite and most instrumentally expressive records of the year. We can’t wait to continue to follow the careers of each individual artist, and we hope you do too! If for some reason you’re unfamiliar with their music, we’ve made it easy to get familiar by adding the links to their music and social media below.
