Bobby Kendrick shines on country duet "I'm No Angel" featuring Alyssa Scott
With his third single of the year being released on April 28th, 2021, we think Bobby Kendrick’s “I’m No Angel” might just be his best yet. Read along for our full review of the track, as well as a background on this artist.
Now based out of Nashville, Tennessee, Bobby Kendrick uprooted his life from the central coast of California to continue his pursuit and passion for music. Teaming up with Alyssa Scott on this newest single “I’m No Angel” was a fantastic idea, because it’s one of the best country-inspired duets we’ve listened to in quite some time. Right off the bat, this track’s a winner.
One of the most difficult parts of nailing a proper duet is making sure that each talented artist gets their moment in the spotlight, even during a relatively short single like this. You wouldn’t realize it based on the first listen, but “I’m No Angel’ only clicks in about three minutes, however both Bobby and Alyssa have imparted memorable moments on this song that we haven’t been able to stop thinking about since its release day.
Considering Bobby has been busy with releases since the start of this year, it was really nice to hear him step aside for just a moment and bring someone else in to further compliment his sound. We loved both “Drinking Songs” and “Senorita”, but there really is something special and refined about his newest. It feels quite intimate in its sound and stripped back instrumentation, almost as if both artists are playing the listener a private show.
As country fans ourselves, it’s really easy to listen to a lot of more mainstream artists within the genre who come off as disingenuous in their music, but there really is a heartfelt and true feeling that comes off by the end of the listen. “I’m No Angel” is certainly a song we’ll be recommending and going even further, an artist that we recommend digging into as well. His released discography has proved nothing short of great, so we’ll make sure to keep posted on whatever else comes out in the interim.
