Brynn Bowman shares her polished new single, "Suffocate"

With its official release on March 19th, 2021, Brynn Bowman is back with an incredibly polished new single, titled “Suffocate”. Do yourselves a huge favor and read along with us for our full featured review of her track, in addition to a background on the artist.

For those unaware, Brynn Bowman is redefining the terms for powerhouse women in music. Drawing influence from artists like P!nk, Paramore, and Panic! At the Disco, Brynn is imparting her own brand of pop rock, along with eccentric and whimsical elements featured throughout the listen. We’ve absolutely loved our multiple listens of “Suffocate” thus far, it is a certified hit in our eyes.

Delivering a high energy performance while maintaining a connection with the audience is what Brynn does best, however, her lyricism is also quite impressive given its context. According to Brynn, “I want my music to shape people’s lives the way music shaped mine,” she says. “I want my music to make you say, ‘that’s exactly what I’m feeling, I just couldn’t put it into words.”

On “Suffocate” specifically, right from the get go, Brynn had us by hold with not only her unique vocals, but the light hearted instrumentals. At just a tad under three minutes in run time, not a single second was wasted in trying to win over a new audience. While she’s relatively new in terms of official releases, we can confidently state right now that she’s got new fans over here at We Write About Music.

Featuring plucky guitars that added a deep layer of complexity in the listen, to her flawless and shiny sounding vocals, there truly isn’t a negative piece of criticism we had on the song. Normally on a first listen of anything, unless it’s way on the experimental side, it can be forgettable. This was different though, because as soon as we finished, we immediately had to hit the play button again. There was enough going on here, especially towards the end when the effects kick in, that multiple listens would only uncover more subtleties you may have missed the first time around.

Plain and simple, this song is fantastic. Brynn’s got us super excited to see what else gets released throughout the year, but we know for a fact right now that we’ll be spinning this until we’re burned out. We’re not sure if that’s possible, but we’re willing to find out!

Overall though, kick off your collective weekends with a stream or two of “Suffocate”. Additionally, for all things Brynn Bowman, to listen, and to keep up with all future releases and information, please check out the following links below.
