Courtney Elle sets the party in motion with a single, "Freedom" - Interview
Within the first 30 seconds, there’s a serious infectious energy to "Freedom," and it hits you right up until the closing moments. The Wilmington, Delaware born singer-songwriter Courtney Elle has crafted a song here that feels made for exactly the moments you'd hope, kicking back, pouring a drink, and letting the party naturally build around it.
Elle has always had a gift for blending genres, pulling contemporary pop together with the timeless spirit of funk, disco, and classic R&B, and "Freedom" is a fantastic showcase of that instinct. There's a real theatrical sensibility running through her music too, and it shows up here in how vividly the song comes together, expressive vocals paired with rhythms that feel effortlessly fun.
Adding even more excitement to this release are the additional versions accompanying the original, including a remix from Dave Audé and another from Wilson and Smokin' Jack Hill. Both bring their own unique twist to an already great song, giving you a few different ways to experience the same infectious energy depending on the mood. It's exciting news too that the Dave Audé remix in particular is headed to Billboard Dance Radio. Can we say we’re surprised? No, not really. The song deserves it!
There’s even a brand new video for the track that premiered this past week too! Obviously we’ve got it linked in this article, so make sure to give it a watch whenever you can.
We also recently had the chance to sit down with Courtney to talk through the making of "Freedom," and it was a genuinely fun conversation! We covered everything from her creative process and the production choices behind the track to how the remixes came together, along with some insight into her collaborations and what her live performances have been like recently. It was clear throughout just how much passion and intention she brings to every part of this project.
All in all though, "Freedom" is a joyous, danceable addition to Courtney Elle's catalog, the kind of song built to soundtrack good times with friends, and with two strong remixes and a brand new video adding even more momentum, this release feels like the most exciting moment for her. We can’t wait for more, but for now, go ahead and click those links below to listen in and of course to follow along for more.
