David Taro excels on bright & vibrant single, "Judy"

On his first single release of 2022, David Taro has come storming back with a bright and vibrant track that he’s titled “Judy”. Please read on for a closer look into the song, as well as a much needed background on this emerging artist.

Representing the London music scene, David Taro is a singer, songwriter, and multi-talented performer who’s put his signature essence on his latest, “Judy”. Keeping things genuine in the song’s prowess to tell a compelling story through imagery-filled lyricism, there’s definitely an optimism that comes through by the final notes. As this was our introduction to David’s music, we didn’t quite know what to expect, however he’s sincerely surpassed our expectations on this well-rounded listen.

On the background of the single, “Judy” is ultimately a story that’s told as a day in the life. Says David on the specifics, “If you don't have dreams to start with, they can't get broken". Honestly, it’s an all too relatable sentiment that doesn’t really get talked about in normal conversation. He’s really nailed it in the sense that it limits those who don’t want to put themselves out there or strive for the thing that could potentially better their life. For the most part, the instrumentation feels like it was crafted to evoke a positivity, even though the lyricism doesn’t 100% match, but it’s the juxtaposition about “Judy” that’s setting it apart from the rest of the pack.

Putting the message of it all aside though, it’s difficult to argue that David’s vocals aren’t the star of the show. Seriously, with a range like that and how he’s shown his capabilities in hitting those high notes, you almost get distracted by what the song is actually about. It’s certainly a song done well in the genre of indie pop, but with an extreme versatility in how he sings, we’d love to hear an experimentation of something new just for kicks. All in all, we can confidently claim that “Judy” will serve as an ideal intro to the rest of this artist’s discography. With an album and an EP under his belt, we can’t wait to dig in further ourselves!
