Divining Rod return for an impassioned new single, "Mason County Line"
Sneaking in right at the end of 2022 with their first new single since 2019, Divining Rod have completely crushed it on their latest, “Mason County Line”. Read on for a closer look into the track, as well as a background on this talented band.
Back again for the first time since 2019’s Return to Crystal Cove, we’re thrilled that Divining Rod have reemerged for something incredibly special on “Mason County Line”. For those out of the loop on this band, they’re made up of Miyuki Furtado (vocals/guitar/drums), Patrick Harmon (guitar/vocals), Matt Svigals (bass), and John Malone (drums). Together they’re effortlessly putting together a serene mix of alternative country with plenty of outstanding rock elements. We’re loving their latest and cannot wait for everyone to give it a spin.
Emerging post-pandemic with an absolute rocker from start to finish, “Mason County Line” was put together rather quickly after having been recorded mostly live in just two days. While we’re not totally sure what Divining Rod have been up to over the last few years, we do know that they haven’t lost their step, as you can audibly feel the passion and love that went into this. What it does best is truly takes so many styles, influences, and inspirations, yet still manages to create something that is wholly unique and personal to them. Every instrument has its own moment to shine, the production is crisp and clean, and those vocals from Miyuki are downright powerful in every line delivered.
For any country fan out there, and even those who are looking to dip their toes into the genre, this so perfectly bridges the gap between a classic rock feel and modern country elements. The vocals certainly add to that versatility, but also the tone achieved within the instrumentation add on to that well rounded feeling. The real hope here is that Divining Rod have been busy in the interim, preparing for a fruitful 2023 filled with more sounding just like this. We don’t know what the future holds, but we’re on board for any coming surprises!
