EGGER delivers a hypnotic Retro-Futuristic jolt with "Get Up"

There's a real thrill in hearing an artist take something as familiar as 80’s synthwave and make it feel completely new again, and that's exactly what Austrian musician Wolfgang Egger pulls off with "Get Up." As the fourth single from his electro-experimental project EGGER, this massive track pulls that classic aesthetic out of nostalgia entirely and drops it into something that feels analogue, retro, and yet it’s thoroughly futuristic.

Egger works across modular synthesis, minimalism, and sonic conceptual art, and it shows in how deliberately this track is built. His music has always functioned as a kind of study in perception, layers that shift slowly, sequences that pulse almost like living organisms, and vocals that are essentially added instruments to the mix. On "Get Up," all of that comes together into something with real physical urgency. That “mantra like” refrain, get up, get up, move in desire, get up, shout to the top, becomes almost hypnotic the longer it repeats, and it's repetitive in exactly the right way. It pulls you deeper!

The instrumentation throughout is outstanding, atmospheric, and immersive in a way that feels tailor made for a dark room and a crowd ready to move. This is music built to groove to, trust us, but there's a real intellectual thread running underneath the club energy too. Egger has built a reputation, especially with earlier releases as someone who doesn't just make electronic music but actively thinks about it, treating his tracks more like sonic essays than simple dance cuts. "Get Up" carries that same conceptual depth while still being his most accessible work yet. For you, we think it’s a perfect jumping off point to exploring the rest of his catalog.

The production here deserves real credit too. Every layer feels intentional, sitting in that space between imperfection and digital precision. He keeps it feeling human even as it explores such different territories. We listened so many times and it’s what made Egger's music so compelling. "Get Up" is a great showcase of that push and pull.

"Get Up" is a beautifully produced introduction to Egger's world. It rewards repeat listens and feels perfectly suited for the underground electronic scene it's aimed at. It's atmospheric, physical, and thoughtful all at once, and for so many more reasons, that’s why we love it. This is an artist that in our opinion, hasn’t even begun to peak his sound. We urge everyone out there to give this one a listen and of course to follow along for more by clicking those links below. Enjoy!
