Fabian Starr’s "Back to the Arcade" turns nostalgia into euphoria

The flicker of strobe lights, the hum of speakers, and an endless energy running rampant from start to finish, this one has it all. On Back to the Arcade, Fabian Starr bottles a feeling and vibe into a remix album that feels less like a collection and more like a legitimate experience. Step inside and you’re not just listening, you’re wandering through a late-night maze of sound.

Built around the idea of revisiting the summer of his 16th birthday, this project pulses with real life sotires. Starr isn’t imagining the dance floor, he’s reliving it, reconstructing it with the precision of someone who’s logged thousands of hours in the actual space. That experience bleeds into every transition, drop, or every carefully engineered swell of energy. He’s got an album that shapeshifts, and in our opinion, is good for literally any occasion.

Sonically, Back to the Arcade is right at the intersection of dance, pop, and electronic music, but it refuses to settle into any one lane. The production is massive, filled with towering synths and basslines that feel like they’re physically moving the room. These are earworms engineered with surgical precision, looping and unfolding in ways that feel instantly familiar yet endlessly replayable. You can lose yourself in it at 2 a.m., then find yourself humming it hours later in complete silence.

On the vocal end of things, this project leans into a silky smooth aesthetic. The voices glide across the production, adding warmth and humanity to the otherwise high-gloss electronic landscape. One of the cooler parts we found is that you could listen to this vocalless and it’d still be as good. Though we wouldn’t want it that way, but given it’s a remix album, anything goes!

Despite its club-ready DNA, Back to the Arcade never feels exclusionary. There’s an openness to it, a sense that this is electronic music designed not just for seasoned dance floor devotees but for anyone willing to press play and let go. It’s not difficult to imagine jamming out during those late nights or even cruisin’ down the highway singing along and vibing out in your. The versatility is a major plus!

Back to the Arcade isn’t just a return to the past, it’s a full-body dive into it, reimagined with care, and a whole lot of love. Fabian has struck gold with this record and we can’t wait to keep going back to it as the summer heats up by us. But in the meantime, we urge you to give this one a spin as soon as you can, follow along for more, and of course to stay tuned for any news!
