FreeFall. ignite with an absolutely monstrous debut EP, "Fire"
FreeFall. aren’t wasting a single second of time making their mark. The Swansea-based indie rock/post-punk outfit have spent the past year building a reputation as one of the UK’s most exciting young bands, earning over 100,000 streams, playing live at the O2 Academy, and proving they can channel raw energy into songs that stick in your head for literal days at a time. Their debut EP Fire, released September 12th, 2025, captures all of that momentum in just under 18 minutes, delivering five tracks that feel urgent, defiant, and destined for big stages.
Fire immediately shows off that it can balance intensity with accessibility to those who may not have dipped their toes in the genre before. These songs are unapologetically loud and uncompromising, built on thick layers of guitars and thunderous rhythm work, but they also carry hooks that make them instantly memorable. FreeFall. tap into the cathartic spirit of classic post-punk while injecting a distinctly modern edge, creating something that’s at once familiar and refreshingly new. The band’s socially charged grit is never far from the surface, but there’s also a sense of fun and release here. It’s not hard to envision that it’s an invitation to shout the words back in sweaty unison in the midst of a packed crowd!
The production gives every track the heft it deserves. The guitars ring out with crunch and clarity, the drums land with a chest-rattling punch, and the occasional horn accents bring an unexpected flourish that makes the arrangements feel bigger than their size. The EP feels stadium-ready without losing its rawness. We mentioned the balance, and even though most of these songs are straight up rockers, “Head’s Underwater” stuck out to us in a big way with it’s slightly “softer” approach.
At the center of it all is the voice. Raspy, commanding, and emotionally charged, the vocals on Fire serve as the perfect conduit for both the band’s message and their energy. They cut through the instrumentation with urgency, but there’s nuance too. It’s the kind of vocal delivery that can move seamlessly from the studio to the stage, where its full power will no doubt be felt.
As a debut, Fire does exactly what it should, it establishes FreeFall. as a band to watch and leaves you wanting more. It’s tight, cohesive, and brimming with confidence, but it also hints at even greater things on the horizon. With two new songs alongside established fan favorites, the EP not only rewards longtime listeners but also offers a glimpse of their evolution.
FreeFall. are on a fast trajectory! They’re ready to burn brighter in the near future, but for now, we overwhelmingly urge you to click those links below to get into the record and of course to follow along for much more in the works. Crank it up!
