In Balance bring Punk fire to a Limited-Edition gem - Interview
From the very first notes of their latest release, In Balance prove why Bakersfield might just be harboring one of the most exciting punk bands in the scene right now. Their new 7” record, Unforgivable, out via Transcendental Revolution, may only carry two tracks, but it punches well above its weight. Limited to just 100 copies pressed on translucent California Clear vinyl, the project feels less like a routine drop and more like a love letter to the urgency and spirit of modern punk.
The centerpiece of the release is “Forget Me,” a single that landed September 12th, accompanied by the opening of preorders. If you haven’t already hit play, prepare for a rush of pop-punk adrenaline: galloping drums, punchy guitars, and a vocal performance that mixes raw emotion with the kind of polished edge that calls back to The Story So Far and Knuckle Puck at their catchiest. This is music meant to be shouted back in unison, equal parts uplifting and cathartic, proof that In Balance know how to capture punk’s combustible energy and give it a hook strong enough to lodge in your head for days.
“Two Steps Behind,” the other half of the 7”, doubles down on the band’s ability to marry drive and melody. There’s a sense of urgency that runs through the track, a constant push and pull between frenetic instrumentation and lyrical introspection. It’s that tension that places In Balance firmly in conversation with some of the current greats. What’s striking is how effortlessly they carve their own lane, balancing punk ferocity with undeniable earworm instincts.
When we spoke with the band, they were quick to highlight the care that went into this physical release. For them, Unforgivable wasn’t just about putting out two songs, it was about creating something tangible, collectible, and personal. They talked about the production process, how each song came together in a blur of energy, and how important it felt to translate that intensity into a format fans could hold in their hands. It’s an ethos that feels increasingly rare in a digital-first age: a record designed not just to be streamed, but to be cherished.
In our opinion, it’s all meant to leave you wanting more, with your speakers rattling and your pulse racing. In Balance have delivered a limited-edition release that’s both a collector’s item and a calling card, proof that melodic punk still thrives on immediacy, honesty, and above all, hooks that refuse to let go.
