Leo Sawikin soars with euphoric single, “Jumping From So High” - Interview

With his latest release, “Jumping From So High” (out September 2th), Leo Sawikin cements himself as one of indie music’s most compelling rising voices. It’s a euphoric, dream pop–leaning track that glows with optimism and bursts of color, but at its core, it also reveals a songwriter with rock roots and a keen sense of craft. Produced by Seattle legend Phil Ek, the single feels expansive, cinematic, and effortlessly uplifting, a signpost of bigger things to come for Sawikin as he maps out an ambitious run of singles, an EP, and a full album rollout stretching into 2026.

What immediately stands out on “Jumping From So High” is the way Sawikin’s voice takes command. His vocals soar with a clarity and conviction that’s both arresting and deeply moving, moving from grounded verses into breathtaking high notes that elevate the entire track. It’s a performance that doesn’t just ride over the instrumentation, it transforms it, pulling the listener into a place of euphoria where emotion and melody intertwine. There’s a feel-good, almost triumphant energy here that makes the song ideal for a late-night drive, a sunrise moment, or any time life needs a shot of unshakable optimism.

Musically, the track walks the line between lush dream pop textures and a dash of some softer rock. Ek’s production leans into wide, atmospheric soundscapes layered with shimmering guitars, airy synths, and rhythm work that keeps everything propulsive without overshadowing the vocals. There’s a sense of space in the mix that makes the song feel as though it’s constantly ascending, pulling you higher with each passing section. The result is a sound that’s unmistakably modern yet rooted in the timeless pull of melody-driven rock.

In our conversation with Sawikin, he spoke at length about the meaning behind the single, the process of shaping it with Ek, and how this release fits into his broader artistic vision. “Jumping From So High” isn’t just a standalone track, it’s the opening chapter of an expansive new era for the New York–based artist. He shared insights into the patience and precision that went into crafting the sound, as well as hints of what’s ahead—a follow-up single, a new EP, and then a string of releases in 2026 that will build into a full-length album.

It’s not our first time getting to chat with Leo, but this time around, he seemed incredibly confident about the road forward. The music speaks for itself and we urge everyone out there to give it a spin as soon as you can. Make sure to follow along to stay tuned for the latest as well!
