Josh Roberts creates his own groove on new soul funk single, "Lovers Do"

Officially released on October 9th, 2020, Josh ROberts has released his fifth single of six ahead of his newest EP. Read along with us for our full breakdown of the track, in addition to a bit of background on the artist as well.
For those that may be unaware, Josh Roberts is an independent pop artist and songwriter who is currently based out of Nashville, TN. He’s writing, performing, recording, and traveling the country playing backup for other artists normally. Roberts’ new project is being released song-by-song in 2019 and 2020, and after years of playing backup for others, his latest collection of songs is a re-introduction to the music world as an artist in his own right.
Co-written and recorded in Nashville, Tennessee, Josh let us know that, “This song is the fight between your head and your heart when an old flame keeps coming back around.”
My friend and producer Bobby Brinker and I both have a love for that funky soulful vibe, and Bobby hit the mark again on this one.”
What you’re going to experience from the first note on “Lovers Do” is a hefty dose of funk and soul. The way that Josh delivers his message within the lyrics and the way the instrumentation washes over you as you listen is simply breathtaking. Besides his killer vocal delivery, it’s just a fun and heartfelt song to listen to. Considering the full EP is almost here, with the sixth release coming soon enough, needless to say we are quite excited to hear the full record from start to finish.
From what we’ve heard in his other music, it’s going to be quite cohesive. What can we say, we just love an artist who can successfully create atmosphere and his own personal vibe, especially within the genre of funk and soul. It speaks to us, just like this song did. “Lovers Do” is not only a song you can groove along to, but the replayability is high. After our first listen, we had to go back and dig in one more time.
