King Gizzard Share Historic "New" Record, Live At Levitation, Their First U.S. Performance
It’s a historic day in music history. Why’s that? Well, Australia’s own King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard has finally unearthed their first US performance ever in the form of a “new” record, called Live At Levitation which is a double LP consisting of the band’s 2014 and 2016 shows at Levitation. As long time fans, it brings a musical tear to our eye to be able to get to hear this rare recording, but also the opportunity to own it on their always rare and signature vinyl.
Says frontman Stu Mackenzie right at the beginning of the set, "We've never played in America before". Not long after, the band immediately rips into their legendary I’m In Your Mind Fuzz suite that could turn any non-believer immediately into a fan. The sheer energy the band puts out in these four songs blew our mind the first time we got to witness it, however we can’t imagine standing there not knowing anyone in that room would be witnessing history for years to come.
Now one of the cooler things about this double record is the fact that it’s a mashup of two separate sets, bringing together their greatest hits at the time from Quarters all the way up to their landmark record Nonagon Infinity. The first time we ever saw them live was right after the release of Nonagon Infinity in 2016 and it single handedly changed the trajectory of our music loving lives forever. To be able to have this recording of one of the first performances is really the best thing ever, so make sure to listen in and listen loud as soon as you can.
