Lorelei Marcell hits new highs on artistic EP, "Stranger"
Hitting artistic highs on her newest EP Stranger, Lorelei Marcell has more than delivered with this work that we’ve already fallen in love with. Read on for an in-depth review of the record, in addition to a background on the artist.
For those unfamiliar with the work of Lorelei Marcell, she’s been consistently putting out vulnerable, contemplative, yet hauntingly beautiful music for quite some time now. On her newest EP Stranger, she’s somehow managed to raise the stakes both productionally and in the way that she carries her vocals. From beginning to end she’ll have you on the edge of your seat, which is why we’ve got to overwhelmingly recommend you give it a listen.
The record itself covers multiple themes that mostly surround the “existential parts of heartbreak”, but continues to stay relatable and gives the listener a glimpse into the real struggles of Lorelei. Through six total tracks, it’s certainly a lyric heavy record that relies on the listener connecting the dots in these stories, however it also embodies everything that is right in pop music at the moment. The way that she’s composed these structures border the mainstream and alternative, capturing both audiences who will find infinite parts to relish in. From a sonic perspective, so much of Stranger’s massive moments come from the intricacies in the production, which is why you should 100% give this a listen with a nice pair of headphones. You’d be doing yourself a disservice otherwise!
With an incredibly impressive team behind Lorelei Marcell making sure she’s headed in the right direction, there’s still such a sincerity and personal touch that she’s infused into her sound. It’s not something that can be taught or replicated, rather one of those things you either have or you don’t. The delivery in her dynamic vocals, the perfectly timed pauses, and beyond have left us close to speechless on our now countless listens through. The more we’ve returned to the EP prior to its release, the more we’ve discovered, which is why we suggest listening closely in the first place.
