Mat the Alien treats listeners to two new singles, "Bat Yam" & "BC Collective"
Treating the listeners to two fantastic tracks titled “Bat Yam” and “BC Collective”, Mat the Alien is back and further expanding his already eclectic sound. Keep reading for our glowing review of the singles, as well as a much needed background on the artist.
Iconic and showing no signs of slowing down within the electronic music scene, Mat the Alien has been on an absolute tear throughout the entirety of 2022. Following up his most recent EP Big Boys, he’s continuing to experiment on two new songs that we’ve quickly come to love, “Bat Yam” and “BC Collective”. Both sonically different from the last but certainly holding onto his signature artist flairs, we enjoyed them equally and sincerely can’t wait for everyone out there to hit the play button.
If for some reason you’ve been out of the loop on Mat the Alien, he’s been immersed in the scene since the late 80’s continuously exploring sounds and genres all the while moving the goal posts in a forward direction. Touring all over the world at some of the globe’s most notable venues and music festivals, every set is an attraction, and undoubtedly a can’t miss experience. Things have been slightly different since October of 2020 when he unfortunately went through a terrible mountain biking accident, however he hasn’t let that stop him in the slightest from creating and pursuing his musical dreams.
On these two tracks though, Mat continues to put his best foot forward in revolutionizing his own sound and reaching new production feats. While “Bat Yam” is fully instrumental and focuses intently on its atmospheric elements, “BC Collective” throws in a series of lyrical passages that bring complexity and layering into the equation. Now having had the opportunity to explore more of his music, this feels like a minor pivot from past releases, but ultimately one that moves him into the future of the genre. An urge to everyone would be to listen to these with your best set of headphones so as to not miss out on any of the subtleties happening. Both songs are dense and challenge the listener to truly hear everything that’s going on way back in the mix!
