Currently based out of Brisbane, Middy Scoot is an independent artist who’s using a wide variety of productional skills and her own talents to create a compelling type of pop music. On her newest single “dope queen”, she’s experimenting with electronic instrumentals but ultimately wowing the listeners with her captivating and commanding vocals. Without a doubt, this is certainly a song we recommend you check out as soon as you can.
Taking the leap from production as a hobby to full-time musician, we can confidently claim Middy has made the right decision because everything about her music has that encapsulating and full feel that comes from skilled producers. While she used to just focus on mixing electronic beats, she’s broadened her repertoire to include clever songwriting and performing as well. “dope queen” is the perfect hybrid of her past life and a look towards what she’s going to create well into the future.
While it feels like we loved so many different facets of this newest song, there were definitely some highlights that jumped out right to the front. For example, the laid back demeanor in which Middy delivers her vocals breathed a fresh amount of confidence into the mix. The vocals in fact act more like an added instrument than to really take center stage. Of course the backing instrumental and original beats used are phenomenal, but the entire package and atmosphere that the song delivers are what excited us the most. We want to focus on the now, but this song specifically has us perplexed as to what other unique tones she can come up with going forward.
