Night Swims break down their sensational debut, "Idle/Wild" - Interview

Fresh off the release of their sensational debut album Idle/Wild, we got the special opportunity to sit and speak with the lead man of Night Swims, Michael Thomas. Please check out our full interview below.

Made up of Michael Thomas, David Savoian (Bass), Tim Powers (Guitar) and Nathan Atwood (Drums), the project of Night Swims have just shared their first album to the world, and it’s out of this world. Combining so many wondrous sounds under the umbrella of Rock, Idle/Wild is certainly worthy of your time and focus to really dig in on a record that provides the long lost album experience. Even better, our conversation with Michael Thomas was all the background we needed to really get a full behind the scenes look on its making.

Coming in at a total of 10 songs, spanning right around the 43 minute mark, Idle/Wild immediately immerses the listener into another atmospheric world filled with infinite possibilities and styles. Created over the course of 11 months, these San Diego rockers ultimately fine tuned the record to touch on so many different genres, however there’s still such a consistent cohesive feeling from start to finish. We certainly touched on it during our discussion with Michael, but that was absolutely the goal here to really shift your focus to the music at hand. Sure, a bunch of the songs could be deemed “singles” due to their replayability, but the payoff is massive when you listened uninterrupted.

With a bunch of shows scheduled in Los Angeles throughout the month of May, it’s going to be quite the time to get to witness these songs in a live setting. It’ll all make sense once you click the play button, but there’s a looming energy surrounding these tracks that’s going to make them pop in an almost indescribable way once seen performed on stage. This here is a rock band worth keeping your eyes on and an interview with an immensely talented artist who has taken his vision and turned it into reality. Thankfully for the listeners, you got to reap all the rewards.
