Sam Handy delivers an all new soulful single, "Waiting For You"
Storming into 2022 with an absolute beauty, we’ve quickly fallen in love with the soulful stylings of Sam Handy and his single, “Waiting For You”. Read on for a closer look at the track, as well as a background on this emerging artist.
Expertly blending a fairly equal amount of alternative pop, soul, and glimmers of funk, Sam Handy’s newest song “Waiting For You” is a total groove from start to finish. Showcasing his dynamic vocal range on top of a compelling instrumentation, this is a piece of art that effortlessly sucks in the listener from the first note. As this was our introduction to the artist, we didn’t quite know what to expect, however he’s managed to create fans for life based off one song. Of course, we highly recommend everyone out there give it a spin.
On the background of it all, Sam has deliberately created this laidback and vibrant song to emulate “being the getaway driver for someone special” and to inevitably “escape the mundane with someone who brings the best out of us”. Truly, as sonically bright as “Waiting For You” really is, the deep lyricism just as powerfully paints a picture in your head as the song goes on. You’ll realize quite quickly just how commanding Sam’s vocals are, but his greatest talent is the ability to shift your focus to hang on every word that he’s saying in the process.
Another consistent highlight for us was just how easily he mixed together a futuristic pop sound with the nostalgic feeling of 70’s soul. His vocals certainly lend themselves to the style, but we’ve got to hand it to the production for adding that crispness and polished feeling to the foreground. This is definitely the type of song that we’d recommend as an intro to the artist, as we feel that it shows off his greatest strengths, but it also provides the deep need to explore the rest of his discography too. Needless to say, that’s exactly what we’ll be doing!
