Pray Silence unleash massive sound on 2nd single, “Kill Room”
Within the first 30 seconds, this sounds like a band who have their sound completely figured out, and legitimately, we wouldn’t change a thing. Pray Silence have crushed it with “Kill Room,” a towering second single that proves the Edinburgh newcomers are far more than another promising rock project. Built around huge guitar work, expressive vocal performances, and a chorus that refuses to leave your head, the track is a confident leap forward for this band!
For a group with just two official singles to their name, Pray Silence already sound remarkably assured. The project, spearheaded by singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Marky Wildtype alongside singer-songwriter artist Sam Siggs, was born from a shared desire to reconnect with heavier music. Rather than chasing what’s popular nowadays and watering down their sound, the duo embraces modern alternative rock in the most fun way possible.
The opening moments are impossible to ignore! “Kill Room” erupts with an enormous wall of percussion that immediately sets the tone. It set the stage for us in a way that somehow got us even more pumped for what else was to come.
Once the full band arrives, Pray Silence reveal one of the track's greatest strengths, a truly excellent balance. The guitars are undeniably heavy, packed with thick, textured tones that give every riff weight, yet they never overwhelm the song itself. Instead, the instrumentation works in service of the songwriting, allowing the entirety of the song to remain approachable. Sometimes we think people hear “hard rock” and get a little scared, but we promise, there’s more than enough moments to ease you in to what’s ultimately something so so so catchy.
Vocally, the performance is outstanding! The delivery brings emotion that elevates every lyric, moving between moments of controlled restraint and soaring power. There’s some well timed screams that’ll surely send some shivers down your spines. Even during its heaviest passages, the vocals are the anchor, guiding you through a literal onslaught of sound and style.
At roughly 4 and a half minutes, the track allows itself enough room to develop naturally without ever losing momentum. We live in this era nowadays of show us your best 3 minutes and get to the next one. For us though, we sincerely appreciated the space that allowed the song to breathe a little bit and build that momentum to the next big thing.
If their debut “Dragon of Chaos” hinted at significant potential, “Kill Room” confirms it! Pray Silence aren't simply making loud rock music. They're crafting songs with genuine personality, endless depth, and the kind of unforgettable hooks that separate good bands from truly exciting ones. We cannot wait for you to give this one a spin, so please, click those links below to enjoy, follow along, and of course to stay tuned for hopefully so much more.
