Rachael King previews striking debut album, "The Fires In My Head"

All set to debut on September 3rd, 2021, everyone should be incredibly excited for Rachael King’s newest record, The Fires In My Head. Please read along as we share our full and complete thoughts on the album, as well as a background on the artist.

Taking the listeners on her personal journey of themes surrounding pain, emotion, and the past, Rachael King’s record The Fires In My Head is nothing short of amazing. For this British singer and songwriter, she’s put forward a lyrically dense and story filled experience that manages to paint the picture of her life on top of a swirling instrumentation. We are highly recommending you all pre-save this record prior to its release.

Showcasing all of her musical talents on one cohesive record, Rachael gave us a bit of insight on the record in which she said, “I was running away from so much pain, but I was also running towards something, and I knew I had to write about those experiences.” Turning that pain into pure art is no easy task, however the final product surpassed all of our expectations. Channeling her influences like Amy Winehouse and Macy Gray, she’s imparted her own sense of style into the mix too.

As lighthearted as some of the song’s feel in their delivery, especially on the horns sections, this is the type of album that deserves a close focus and attention to the lyrics. Really, that can’t be stressed enough, as Rachael opens up directly on her years living on the streets, struggling with heroin and crack addiction, plus battling mental health issues and jail. For one to bare their story for strangers to hear is a brave act, but the way The Fires In My Head is packaged has made for a groundbreaking listen to us.

Mentioning it once again, this record is definitely a cohesive one, meaning it would be much appreciated to click the play button on the opener and let it run through until the end to capture the full message. We’ve loved listening every step of the way, but now it’s about that time for you to take our recommendation and hop into it for yourself. The album is set for release on September 3rd, but you can pre-save it below and get ready for a great listen!
