Space Memory Effect kicks off a new era with single, “Blue”

With “Blue,” Space Memory Effect opens a new chapter that feels both like a beginning and a homecoming. The single marks the first collaboration between project mastermind Amy Wallace and Canadian musician/producer Trevor Lewington, a partnership that quietly began years ago and now steps into the light in 2025. What has emerged is a track that hits on all cylinders of emotion, grit, with a classic feeling that cuts right through.

Wallace has always operated in the spaces between memory and motion, and here that instinct sharpens into something quietly powerful. Her vocal performance is the undeniable constant of the song, delivered with a rawness that hits you right in the soul! There’s a fragility in her tone that feels intentional, like she’s singing as if she’s standing inside the emotion if that makes sense. Really, you don’t just hear the feelings, you sit with them from start to finish.

Instrumentally, the production is understated but richly detailed. The keys establish a soft atmosphere, while Lewington’s guitar and bass work weave around her creating some much needed texture. Thankfully, the track avoids excess, choosing instead to let space do part of the storytelling. Every single note feels intentional, and for us, that’s you know these collaborators were working in sync.

As mentioned, the song was partially born years ago and only now completed, but that passage of time has worked its way inside the music itself. It’s like you’re getting two versions of an artist, who Wallace was then, and who she is now. That tension fully adds depth to the listening experience, turning the track into more than just a single, it becomes a bridge between creative eras.

As the opening release in a new album “From Here I Dream”, “Blue” is the perfect way to kick off the rollout. At just over four minutes, the track moves with grace and has set a base for what we expect in the coming months. Most of all, it feels like an artist stepping back into her own creative light. We’re sincerely excited for what the future brings, but for now, we’ll be playing this one on repeat.
