The Waitlist debut their visually striking music video for single, "Death Was Really Boredom"

Review by Austin Sher

Following up their debut record, “EP 01”, The Waitlist are back with a visually striking music video for the single, “Death Was Really Boredom”. Join us as we break down our thoughts on the video, in addition to a refresh on the band.

You may remember not too long ago in July, we covered The Waitlist’s debut EP, which we loved by the way. Well now the Boston-based band is back with a gorgeous new music video to accompany their song, “Death Was Really Boredom”. This is The Waitlist's debut music video, which was really the brainchild of Benjamin Gibson, friend of the band and founder of Magnus Films. The entirety of the video was shot in one day along the Kancamagus Highway in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. As a filmmaker thwarted by Covid restrictions, Benjamin wanted to task himself with a production that could be implemented while maintaining the social distancing guidelines that were in place during late Spring/early Summer 2020. He scouted this location and reached out to the Waitlist about putting together a music video for their song "Death Was Really Boredom", the first track off their debut EP.

While we don’t want to give away too much, because we’d prefer you watch, the music video really is beautifully shot. Given the overall feel of the song matched with how we’d imagine the setting would take place, we have to say that they really paired everything up nicely. In the midst of quarantine though, it must have been really nice to get out for the day into such a beautiful location as well. All the members of the band look so happy to be there and grateful for the opportunities they’re given. That’s all we’re going to say for now though, you can watch the entire video that’s linked at the bottom of this article.

For those that happened to miss our article back in June, let us give you a quick refresher on the band. The Waitlist are made up of brothers Arjun Shah (vocals/guitar) and Anand Shah (guitar) who decided to transform their project into a full fledged band after receiving enthusiastic support from family and friends. They quickly recruited band members Garrett Young (bass) and Stephen Leotis (drums) and began performing their songs at Boston-area clubs. Shortly thereafter, James Dunoyer joined on drums when he decided to quite literally jump on stage at one of the band's shows. Now if that isn’t the absolute most punk rock way possible to join a band, please reach out to us with your personal stories. Seriously, awesome.
