Tori Lord turns up the heat with a massive single & video for “On Ice”

We’ve interviewed Tori Lord before and we’ve followed her work closely, but sincerely, “On Ice” feels like a notch above everything she’s done so far. That’s not to discount anything she’s ever put out, believe us, but this song sent consistent shivers down our collective spines. It’s big, polished, and emotionally charged, and it sounds like an artist who’s beyond firing on all cylinders.

The song is about the tension between vulnerability and self-protection, like that push and pull between wanting to let someone in and keeping your guard up. It’s relatable yet Lord doesn’t romanticize it. She turns it into something bold, precise, and unapologetic.

Then there’s the production, which is truly massive. Really if you’re not listening with a nice pair of headphones, you’re missing out. Every layer feels impeccable, from the sound design to the way the arrangement builds toward that huge chorus. It’s catchy in the best way. The hook sticks after one listen and doesn’t let go. There’s also some really great fuzzy guitar popping up in the background too, adding a little grit and texture to an otherwise gleaming alternative pop sound. Playful vocal effects are sprinkled throughout and they never go overboard.

Her vocals are the real engine here. They’re controlled for most of the track, but then explode exactly when the song needs them to. That kind of dynamic control is hard to fake, and it makes sense given her background. That musical theater training is ingrained in the song no doubt. You can hear all that training in how she shapes a phrase, though the performance never feels stiff. It’s refined, self-aware, and impossible to ignore.

The team behind the song is impressive as well. Guided by mentor Rob Wells, known for his work with Justin Bieber, Lord teamed up with The Party Department, which operates under Fab Dupont’s publishing house, the same one tied to Bad Bunny. The accompanying music video, directed by Michael McCrary of RuPaul’s Drag Race fame, adds such a perfect visual layer that matches the song’s bold energy. Watch that too!

“On Ice” also leads directly into her debut EP, arriving in December 2026. If this is the kind of ambition and polish she’s bringing, we can’t wait to hear the rest. Everything she puts out is fantastic, so of course this is no surprise. Go ahead and click all those links below to listen in, follow along, and of course to stay tuned for the latest.
