Released today and right in time for the holiday season, we got the special opportunity to speak with Paul Vuocolo of Truenemy once again to talk all about his cover, “Santa Claus Is Back In Town”. Please check out our full interview below.

Over the years it’s been so special to see Paul grow as an artist, but he’s finally brought a much needed freshness to Christmastime with a hard rocking cover of Elvis Presley’s “Santa Claus Is Back In Town”. We spoke in-depth all about his reasoning for choosing this classic track, but also an even closer look at everything that’s impending release for 2023. While we’d certainly recommend you check out his originals, there’s no time like the present to enjoy your holiday time with a whole lot of edge and attitude.

On “Santa Claus Is Back In Town”, immediately you’re hit with a wave of passion, crunchy instrumentals, and the spirit of Rock and Roll wrapped into something sincere. Chances are at this stage in your life, you’ve heard Elvis’ original plenty of times, but we can confidently claim that we think he’d be overjoyed with this ruckus version that’s dripping with cool. At just a tad under three minutes in length, a major standout for us was how it takes obvious influence from the original as it’s a cover, but also reinvents it and adds a whole lot of Truenemy’s personality too. As mentioned in our conversation, covers should never be note for note, rather an opportunity to see how creative you can get with something that literal millions of people are overly familiar with.

As Paul wraps up his year, he gave us a sneak preview into what 2023 has in store as well. We can definitely expect more singles released throughout the year, but he’s got his eyes set on an EP that should feature more fun covers as well, hopefully in a similar vein to this!
