UCHAYE rises from the wreckage on an epic debut EP, “WAR IS OV3R”

Let’s be honest right at the beginning, this EP absolutely rips from start to finish. UCHAYE’s “WAR IS OV3R,” just out on October 23rd, 2026, is a massive statement for an artist that’s clearly on the rise.. It’s big, bold, and surprisingly complete for a first release, and it sounds like an artist who knows exactly who she is.

The Minneapolis based Nigerian-Zimbabwean artist built this five track concept record around a single protagonist working through the aftermath of a relationship. The story moves from obsessive denial to escape, then to a pursuit of power, and finally to a full rebirth. That arc gives the EP real shape. You can literally feel and hear the character changing from one song to the next, and by the end it’s hard not to feel like you’ve been on the journey with her. UCHAYE has described the project as being about transformation and about how the things that break us can end up shaping who we become. Though you’ll be amazed by the instrumentation, the lyrics are completely stellar and worth listening in to closely.

Sonically, it’s an absolutely epic listen. The production is massive and atmospheric, with huge guitars and anthemic hooks that draw on the lineage of David Bowie, The Police, and plenty of others. Still though, we felt the EP was filtered through a thoroughly modern rock sound. The lead guitar lines soar and give the harder moments real muscle. Those heavier passages are balanced by moments of levity too, where some catchier, poppier melodies lighten things up. You can headbang along to it, and then a second later you’re reflecting on a lyric that hit closer than you expected. Some favorites on that end were “Denial” and “Currency”!

Through it all though, her vocals are the heart of the record. They’re raw and expressive, and they show real range exactly when the music asks for it. One moment she’s gritty and fierce and the next she’s ethereal, floating above the arrangement with total control.

Additionally, every song on the record feels unique, which is a big part of why it works so well as a complete listen. Nothing repeats itself and each track adds something new to the story while still fitting the larger picture. It plays like a real front to back experience, not just a collection of singles. So make sure to click the play button and listen uninterrupted.

Years of mentorship with producer and musician Shaun Fleming, also known as Diane Coffee, clearly helped sharpen that raw creativity into something polished. Though the record was primarily created in a bedroom studio. You honestly can’t tell with some of the polish on here.

Truly, “WAR IS OV3R” is a thrilling, cathartic debut, and a powerful introduction to an artist who’s only just getting started. We can’t wait for more! Go ahead and click those links below to listen in, follow along, and of course to stay tuned for hopefully so much more.
