Judy Pearson hits her stride on a much needed EP, “Diary of A Heartbreak (Chapter Two)”
There’s a very particular kind of strength that only shows up once the hurt has settled and Judy Pearson has captured that beautifully on “Diary of A Heartbreak (Chapter Two).” Freshly released on October 23rd, 2026, this four-track EP picks up where the first chapter left off, but it’s written from a very different place. Where the earlier songs sat in the raw middle of heartbreak, this one looks back with clarity, confidence, and a well-placed streak of sarcasm.
That shift is the heart of the record. Pearson wrote these songs after she’d already moved on and she could finally look at the same relationship with fresh eyes. The result is less “why didn’t you see me?” and more “I always knew my value.” We think you’ll quickly find it’s a record about self-worth and emotional empowerment, but it feels earned rather than preachy. You can hear the difference in her tone. There’s still so much feeling in every line, but there’s also a steadiness that comes from knowing exactly where she stands.
She describes the songs as letters she’ll never send, a way to say the things left unsaid without needing a reply. Some are pulled straight from her own experience, while others let her imagination wander. That blend of memory and invention gives the EP a lovely range. It feels personal, but it also invites you to find your own story in it. That’s our favorite type of record where you can still apply your own meanings.
Musically, the EP keeps the intimate, acoustic singer-songwriter sound that defined Chapter One and it lets the storytelling take the lead, as it should. The instrumentation is generally subtle and that restraint was the right choice, because Pearson’s vocals are the heart and soul of the record without a single doubt. She’s a fantastic vocalist and she knows how to hold a mood. There are some really lovely piano moments that add warmth and color. You must check out “No One Else Like Me” amongst the others.
Produced, mixed, and mastered by Jeremy Rompala, with vocals recorded at Pirate Studios in London, the whole thing sounds clean, close, and inviting. At only four songs and around thirteen minutes, the EP is brief, but it packs so so so much emotion in. Each track gives the story room to breathe and the whole thing hangs together as a complete emotional arc. She’s such a strong lyricist and this record leans hard on that gift.
Hearing her talk about these songs as a kind of diary makes the whole project feel even more intimate. It’s a thoughtful follow-up and it reads as a natural next chapter rather than a repeat. If you haven’t heard Chapter One yet, it’s well worth checking out first, because this one rewards you for knowing where Judy has been.
