Cornelis Gerard expands his sound on latest single, "Get Good"

Sharing one last single before his 2nd EP One Track Mind releases, Cornelis Gerard has saved the best for last on “Get Good”. Read on for an in-depth look at the track, in addition to a background on this emerging artist.

Pulling from infinite genres but mainly covering synth-punk and indie rock elements, Cornelis Gerard’s “Get Good” is truly a whirlwind of sound and style from start to finish. With a background and message to work towards your goals even though there’s undoubtedly going to be obstacles on the way, his song is both inspiring and instrumentally expansive on all levels. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed our repeated listens and are urging everyone out there to check it out as soon as you can.

If there’s one thing about Cornelis’ music as a whole that we’ve noticed, it’s his natural ability to think outside the box and actually create something that no other artist is currently doing. Sure, there’s plenty of “experimental” music out there to indulge in, but truly, “Get Good” feels like a lighthearted take on a slightly heavy subject lyrically. His discography knows no bounds in terms of genre sampling or pushing the envelope, but what this song does best is its immense inclusion and still making it work by the end of the listen. Through pulsating synthesizers, danceable beats, and his unique singing cadence, it’s memorable in the best way possible.

As One Track Mind gears up for its inevitable release, the EP is shaping up to be eclectic and vibrant through its styles and atmospheres. Now while we don’t have the release date just yet, we’ll make sure to update as soon as we do. It’s music like this that we like to come back to frequently, mainly because you’re always hearing something new due to the density in the instrumentation. Cornelis hasn’t lacked in the slightest on bringing odd tones and perplexities, but really it’s what gives “Get Good” its musical charm at the end of the day. With that being said though, it’s obviously a song and an artist we’re highly recommending you do a deep dive into.
