Montana Joanna bursts on the scene with soulful debut, “Same Stars”
A great debut single should introduce listeners to an artist’s personality as much as their sound. It should leave you wanting to know what comes next! On “Same Stars,” released on June 5th, 2026, Montana Joanna accomplishes exactly that. Bright, vibrant, and overflowing with charm, the track feels like the arrival of an artist who’s already picked her sound and we sincerely hope she doesn’t deviate. This one is absolutely breathtaking!
Drawing from classic soul while embracing a modern feel, “Same Stars” immediately distinguishes itself through its warmth. There’s a genuine joy embedded within every second of the song, from its rhythm section to her lush vocal performance. We think Montana Joanna focused on the fundamentals like great musicianship, memorable melodies, and a groove that refuses to sit still. Any pointless gimmicks would have been a shame, she kept it super real here.
As a singer, songwriter, and bassist who began teaching herself the instrument in 2020 before quickly moving into songwriting, Montana Joanna built her foundation around musicality. That background becomes impossible to miss here. The bass work throughout “Same Stars” is exceptional, serving as the song’s beating heart. Effortlessly funky, the bass lines don’t simply support the arrangement, they actively shape everything surrounding it.
There’s a shine to the production that feels natural rather than manufactured. Horns weave through the song with flair and there’s these little shimmers that you can hear that truly add to the atmosphere.
Her voice is warm, inviting, expressive, and really fits the tone perfectly. There’s a jazziness to her delivery that allows the melodies to glide effortlessly across the groove. Rather than overselling moments, she lets the song breathe, trusting her own natural delivery to carry the material.
Minus everything technical like the production, instrumentals, and plenty else, “Same Stars” is simply fun. It radiates positivity! As debut singles go, this is an exceptionally promising introduction. Montana Joanna has delivered a track that feels confident and fully realized, and like we said, we hope she sticks with it.
