Playing guitar for a large majority of his life has led Rick Drevet to a life of songwriting and music creation. With the help of inspirations like Jimi Hendrix, Gary Moore, Rush, and so many more, he’s managed to take those varied styles and create something completely original in its own right. “Forever Home” is Rick’s newest single and let us confidently tell you that it rocks in every sense of the word. This is a song you’re not going to want to miss out on.
Now while every facet of this song perfectly exudes optimism, our initial thought after listening for the first time was just how well this would translate in a live setting. Honestly, the clever songwriting paired with Kyle Bellinger’s transcendent vocals would make for a legendary performance. That’s not to say that the instrumentation was lacking in any way, because it certainly wasn’t, rather the entire package is something that crowds all over the world could resonate with.
Another thing we thoroughly enjoyed was the extra special attention to the production and just how well everything was mixed here. Each guitar riff gets its moment, yet Kyle’s vocals stay in the center of the mix to really grasp the listener in a meaningful way. Although Rick self-describes as a “never satisfied tone junkie”, let us put it into his head right now that the tones present on the entirety of this song are worthy of praise. He’s so delicately bordered the line of that classic rock nostalgia and dose of the future with modern rock. Whatever label you’d like to slap on it, in the end, it’s just great and pure music.
