Robin Bermann captivates the listener on experimental album, "Lunar Dreams"

Taking the listener on an instrumental journey through multiple genres, sounds, and styles, Robin Bermann’s latest album Lunar Dreams is immaculate. Read on for our glowing review of the track, as well as a background on the artist.

Recorded at his home studio in a tiny town in Germany, Robin Bermann has just let loose an astoundingly impressive new record called Lunar Dreams. With inspirations coming from some of the greats like Blink 182, Modern Baseball, and so many more, Robin has still infused so much of his own personality and musical skills into a dense album that delivers the more you listen. With such a diverse mix of styles that span from 80’s inspired synthesizers to the heavier side of rock and roll, this beauty was built for any music lover no matter where you fall on the spectrum.

As a multi-instrumentalist who’s been playing and learning for most of his life, it’s no surprise he took the reign on really expanding his existing sound. Compared to his 2021 album Everybody Needs a Cloud, Robin consciously took his sound in a slightly heavier direction, but honestly it’s one that we prefer. For example, him kicking things off with the opener “Melancholy Heaven” gave us all the info we needed to know heading into the subsequent tracks. Considering that one specifically ranges so many different styles, it primes the general listener for what’s to come. We could talk about the instrumental side of things all day long, but we’ve also got to give a special shout out to the impressive production featured here too. A recommendation right from the beginning would be to give this a listen with a nice pair of headphones so as to not miss out on any of the subtle effects going on in the background.

Normally we’d recommend a song or two to dip your toes in, but in this case, we found Lunar Dreams to have a cohesion about it that makes it best listened to uninterrupted from the start. Not that it tells a story, but the album as a whole flows so nicely from one song into the next, you’d be missing out if you didn’t give each track your full attention and focus!
