Seaker finds beauty in inner conflict on her single, "Fracture"
There's something really moving about a song that treats our messiest emotional contradictions with actual tenderness. "Fracture," out now from Seaker, does exactly that with an ease that wraps you around the song in truly the most beautiful way. We've reviewed her music before and loved it every time, and unsurprisngly this latest single continues that streak while also marking a quietly bold departure for her sound.
At its core, "Fracture" is about inviting the harder parts of ourselves into the conversation rather than shutting them out. It explores the idea of marrying our darkness to our light, recognizing that even our harshest inner critic might just be looking for a place to land. We thought it was a compassionate way to think about self-acceptance, and Seaker, the musical project of Kiran Hungin, brings her perspective to how she handles it here. Having navigated identity and connection across different cultural backgrounds throughout her life, that lens of understanding sometimes conflicting parts of oneself feels deeply woven into everything she’s made here.
Sonically, this track leans primarily acoustic, a bit of a shift from some of her past work that's incorporated “glitchy” soundscapes and piano alongside more electronic textures. Here, soft fingerpicked guitar takes center stage, building a lush and intimate soundscape that feels warm and unhurried. There are still little traces of her signature style tucked in here and there, but this song is really about stripping things back and letting the lyrics and her voice be the focus.
The emotion of it all we thought came purely from her vocals, which are absolutely angelic throughout. Raw and layered with subtle harmonies, her voice sits right at the front of the mix, carrying so much vulnerability without ever losing that lushness. The lyricism gets a lot of room to shine too. There isn’t a ton to focus on instrumentally which we really enjoyed, this one’s all about the messaging. As lyrics-first fans, that’s definitely why we took to it so fast!
It's certainly a more quiet, understated song, but there's nothing thin about it. It's the kind of track that invites real reflection, giving you plenty of space to sit with your own internal contradictions rather than rushing past them.
"Fracture" is the perfect addition to Seaker's catalog, though a slight departure that still feels completely true to who she is as an artist. It's soft, thoughtful, and powerful, and it reaffirms exactly why her music continues to resonate so deeply.
