The Radio Addicts spark fire on roaring single, “Before My Eyes”
The Radio Addicts have show us exactly why Manchester is buzzing about them as the next generation of rock and roll firestarters with the fresh release of “Before My Eyes,”. The teenage quartet with Luke Cardwell on vocals and rhythm guitar, Daniel Wayland on lead guitar, Vincent Sanderson on drums, and Jonathan Wayland on bass deliver a nearly four-minute adrenaline rush that feels like a throwback to the youthful urgency of early 2000s indie and classic punk. It’s the second single from their upcoming debut vinyl EP MMXXV, and it arrives like a shot of adrenaline!
It hits hard right from the jump, built on thrashing punk-leaning instrumentation and a confidence that only a group with nothing to lose and everything to prove could tap into. The track is immediately vocal-forward with Cardwell’s delivery riding the chaos like a frontman born for the spotlight. His voice cuts through the wall of guitars and pounding drums not by overpowering them, but by matching their energy. You can practically hear the band smiling wide as they barrel forward, playing off each other’s momentum for an all out rocker.
The track carries an unexpected nostalgia too, mainly taking you back to the days of sweaty venues, packed basements, or nights where the amps are too loud and the future feels limitless. It has that unpolished charm that great indie rock always embraces. It’s a bit rough around the edges, gloriously noisy, and actually feels sincere. Minus the ferocity of it all, The Radio Addicts still play with tightness, channeling the wildness of punk through the melodic lens of indie rock. It’s incredibly easy to imagine yourself moshing around a stadium to tunes just like this.
You can feel how much fun they’re having, how much this moment means to them. That hunger, that spark, is what makes “Before My Eyes” so damn good. They’re building something, connecting with every show, every new supporter, and every track. If this single is any indication, MMXXV is shaping up to be a debut that captures a band on the brink of something big.
We cannot wait for the EP release, but in the meantime, we know for a fact we’ll be coming back to this one and their debut single “Scroll My Life Away”. Click those links below to listen in, follow along, and of course to make sure you’re up to date with all the big news.
